American Memory White Papers
This set of technical papers was initially developed to summarize
experience gained during the American Memory pilot (1990-1995). They were
updated and extended as resources for applicants for the LC/Ameritech
competition (1996-1998). The concepts discussed and the principles
developed still guide the Library's digital conversion efforts, although
some of the details have changed as digitizing technology has improved and
new digital formats have been widely deployed.
