Sidewalks were crowded with shoppers in front of Marshall Field & Company's
department store and its display windows with elegant goods (DN-0002541,
DN-0002552). Other images show shoppers loaded with bundles as they
trudged through busy intersections (DN-0001066).
By 1927, crowded intersections still were full of shoppers, automobiles, and streetcars
during the holiday shopping season, but horse-drawn vehicles had vanished
(DN-0082570, DN-0082569).
