Young boys also began to play football and
idolize sports champions (SDN-067094, SDN-066412).
More high schools began to sponsor football teams. The
newspaper photographers shot pictures of local teams, such
as these high school players from De LaSalle (SDN-069400, SDN-069621)
and from Schurz high schools (SDN-069385) in Chicago. Some college students
became cheerleaders (SDN-069380) and began to travel with teams, such as this
group from Tulane University in 1925 (SDN-065666). By 1929, when this picture
was taken of the coaches of the Big Ten Conference teams at a meeting in Chicago
(SDN-069487), football was a major sport.
