Dr. H. C. Cowles of the University of Chicago will conduct a field party during August in northwestern Montana. The party will number about twenty and the work will be along ecological lines. Most of the work will be in the neighborhood of Flathead Lake where the state biological station is located.

Mt. Katahdin and the Maine coast starting August 12; Mr. Whitford will
conduct a party to the Rocky mountain district of Montana, starting
about August 1. These parties will spend about 4 weeks in the field

Dr. H. C. Cowles of the University of Chicago has been sent by the department of botany to investigate the Everglade region of Florida using the U. S. Subtropical Laboratory at Miami as a base of operations.

Professor John M. Coulter and Dr. H. C. Cowles will spend the autumn and winter in Europe returning to their duties at the University of Chicago April 1, 1906.
